Protect Your Home and Pets from Pesky Fleas
The Ultimate Flea Trap by Victor is a unique and easy-to-use tool that effectively helps you control fleas in your home, without having to spray synthetic chemicals or apply them to your pet. Simply plug it in, and your flea trap will begin luring and trapping fleas immediately from up to 30 feet away, alerting you to their presence. It’s odor-free and safe for use around children and pets - so you can use it anywhere indoors and begin to enjoy a flea-free home.
High Efficiency Trap Provides Long-Term Protection
The patented design of the Victor Ultimate Flea Trap gives it a 93% catch rate, making it one of the most efficient ways to control fleas. Its strength lures fleas off of your pet and out of upholstery, and 360° access allows them to enter from all angles. Just replace the “super grabber” glue disc every 2-4 weeks for continued, long-term protection against fleas.
How it Works
- Bright color, light & heat that simulates a warm-blooded host attract fleas from up to 30 feet away.
- Disposable "super grabber" glue disc catches fleas and holds them in place.
- Trapped fleas help to break the breeding cycle and alert you to a potential infestation.

About Fleas in Your Home
Identification and Habits
Adult fleas are tiny bloodsucking insects that, to the naked eye, resemble poppy seeds or dark-colored sesame seeds. Their wingless bodies are laterally compressed, making it easier for them to travel through a host’s fur or hair. Fleas are equipped with long, tube-like mouthparts that allow them to consume the blood of an animal host, as well as long hind legs that allow them to powerfully jump from body to body.

We don't have any pets, so the fleas have been having a party feeding on us and our two small children. It has been just over two months now, and we are still battling these little pests. We had to move in a very short time frame, and were moving long distance so we had to start battling the fleas upon move-in with boxes piled everywhere. Needless to say, this has been an exhausting and infuriating exercise. The night before we moved, my husband realized there was infestation because he entered the empty house to set the a/c and was immediately covered in fleas. He went out and bought a flea bomb, which killed off that round of fleas. Anyone who has battled fleas before knows that the live adult ones are just a small percentage of the actual population in your dwelling. There will also be eggs and pupae just waiting to transform into their next life stage through to adult to feed on you as the next generation.
I have been trying to vacuum the house every day, but of course with two small children sometimes things don't work out so well and I have to miss a day or two of vacuuming. Plus, cleaning the house EVERY DAY is exhausting and emotionally taxing. I can't use flea collars or flea dips for my children, and fleas find them very delicious and very accessible being so close to the floor. I have bought anti-lice shampoos and sprays for my children in the hopes that they will help keep the fleas off them (I know, lice and fleas aren't the same thing but strangely they don't sell anti-flea shampoo for human children and I am desperate). I have a crawling baby and a preschooler that likes to roll around on the floor, so I also have to bathe both my children EVERY NIGHT and do laundry every day to ensure they don't have any fleas or eggs hiding out in their hair, sock bands, waist bands. Bed sheets have to be washed every few nights. Sigh.
I very quickly realized that we needed to use every tool available to us in this battle, so I bought a stock of flea pesticides from a website that specializes in doing your own pest control because we simply couldn't afford to pay any of the companies to keep coming to our house every month. This has some effective flea pesticide (it does kill them on contact), plus a HGR (hormone growth regulator) which supposedly prevents them from becoming egg producing adults. I have just bought a robot vacuum because we had two weeks of flu in our house, and I was just unable to keep up on the bathing and cleaning - and the fleas kept hatching and feasting, which about sent me into tears.
Anyway... this product does work, to some degree. It does attract and kill some fleas. I don't think it would entice a flea on your dog or cat or other mammal to jump off their ready food source to go at the light bulb, but if a flea does ranform into an adult while this thing is near it is likely to go jump towards the heat of the light bulb and get stuck on the sticky pad. You can make your own traps using the same idea with an incandescent lamp over a sticky pad or shallow dish of water with a drop or two of dish soap. I don't have any lamps that can take an incandescent bulb, so I had to purchase these and for their purpose they work great. No, I don't think they will attract and kill every flea in my house but they are yet another cog in the flea killing military machine that I am building. Some nights they don't catch any fleas. At times they have gone nearly two weeks without catching any fleas, and then bam in one night there will be a hatching and we will have a few to several on a trap for many successive nights.
For me, I rejoice at every single dead flea that I see so these lamps can bring me great joy. We've also caught several larder beetles in these, which I would have never known were in our house - so bonus catch! We have been rotating the traps around to different rooms on different nights, but I think I might just buy a few more to make my life just that much easier. I'd really rather not have to spray poison again, as it is incredibly difficult to manage my children with a poisoned floor and I'm just not comfortable living in a poison drenched home - plus, after three rounds I can see it isn't going to eliminate the problem. I have also tried dusting the baseboards and other areas with diatomaceous earth. To date, this obviously hasn't solved our problem either but I might give another dusting soon for good measure.
I am by nature a very clean person, and having this flea problem has sent me to the brink of insanity. I am going to try relying on the robot vacuum in conjunction with my upright vacuuming, plus these lights set out at night and hope for the best. I'm done with poisons. They have an immediate killing effect, but I've yet to see any long term results with them - I'm not even convinced the HGR worked, and we sprayed it twice. Persistence is key, and from the many tens of hours of research I have done into flea control I think my new poison-less plan will be the most effective and least harmful to my family (If I can keep the baby away from the robot vacuum - boy is that thing exciting).
If you do decide to buy this lamp, be sure to get extra sticky pads and bulbs too - you will need them.
As some people have noted, you can see the fleas if you put on white socks and walk around your house. Wherever you see the fleas are where the "hotspots" are. I have found that the hotspots are not necessarily where my pets hang out. It's usually some arbitrary place where the eggs have dropped and hatched. Chances are, if you've treated your pets' bedding/sleeping area (via spraying, powders, or vacuuming) those areas will not be the hotspots. The spot may be a place where you've missed the vaccuuming, so do the sock test first! In my case, it was the area between the bed and drawers that my vaccuum couldn't reach.
If the sock test doesn't work, just move the trap around. I had some success dragging the trap around. When I see fleas hop on, I leave it there plugged in in a dark room. These areas are where I have captured the most fleas.
If you have a heavy infestation, it is necessary to use the flea trap in conjunction with capstar (or it's generic) plus powder and vaccuuming. The trap alone will NOT resolve a heavy infestation.
In the meantime, to prevent getting bitten yourself, spray your legs and ankle with a flea/tick repellent. This way, you remove yet another source of food for the fleas.
Now onto the efficacy of the flea trap...
This thing works like a charm. It does NOT seem to attract fleas up to 30 feet as advertised. In fact, I would say it works for maybe a 5x5ft area, so make sure you move it around to find a good location. But once you do, you'll be amazed and disgusted by what it will pick up.
First night it captured about 15 writhing fleas, both large and small. By the second night, I counted 32. The third night I moved it to an area that I had already treated, so it only picked up two. By the fourth night, I had it moved back to the original location and the count rose well into the 50s. By the 5th night, there were over 70 fleas on the trap. By the 6th night, I counted exactly 101. On the 7th night, there were about 120. On the 8th night, I decided to move it to the aforementioned hotspot (which was about 6 ft away from where I currently had the trap set up) because I had inadvertently performed the sock test and found that area to be far more flea infested. On that night alone, over 50 new fleas hopped into the trap. On the 9th night, the total count climbed to about 200 and I decided to change the sticky sheet because it was starting to get crowded. It is currently still the 9th night. I am about 2 hours into the new sheet, with the flea trap directly on the hotspot, and I've already counted 26 fleas on the new sheet. When it starts to slow down I will move the trap around again. I am also waiting for my generic capstar to arrive in the mail, and I continue to vaccuum daily.
I should note that I only plug in the light at night, as I have found the trap to be somewhat ineffective during the day. The first two days I would catch 2-4 fleas during the day, but I decided to only use it at night, since I read from other reviews that the bulb burns out fast. It's been a little over a week and the original bulb is still burning bright for me.
This product alone will not rid your house of fleas, but it will help. Every flea caught is one less flea that will reproduce. It also helps you figure out how bad your infestation is (which in my case is much worse than I had previously imagined.) It will also help to mentally empower you, if you have grown frustrated like I have. I also get a strange sense of satisfaction from counting the day's catch, and seeing the wiggling writhing bastards that have pocked my legs and ankles (and butt and stomach and arms) with itchy bites.
If you're on the fence about this product, I advise you to read everyone's suggestions here first and try it out. If you follow everyone's advice, it SHOULD work for you. Happy flea hunting!
This is really a tough situation for me. I work from home and we have a ton of pets. As such, my wife and I are against using flea bombs or any other chemicals that might be potentially harmful to us or our pets.
That's when I went ahead and picked up one of these traps. I must say, it's pretty effective!
In the week or two since we've had it, we've caught more than just fleas. We've caught spiders, gnats, centipedes, and who knows what else.
The trap itself is totally passive. All you have to do is simply plug it in and let it do its thing. I think the problem that a lot of people are having with the trap is that the critters are being lured in by the light. As such, I doubt that this trap will work in a brightly lit room. Also, we probably wouldn't use this in our bedroom since my wife needs to be in 100% complete darkness to sleep.
Additionally, the type of lightbulb that is used by this trap has an extremely fragile filament. I once broke the bulb by smacking the top of the dome to try to shake a spider onto the glue trap.
Lastly, this product only treats the symptoms of a flea problem. It's not a cure. In other words, it only kills the fleas that it lures in. If you have a serious flea problem, you'll probably have to resort to other methods to target the source of the fleas.

A better alternative is the flea spray they sell at the vets that compliments the actual flea treatment they give you. The spray goes on any fabric surface to kill fleas so you can vacuum them up and it isn't harmful to your pet. This night light is just a waste of money.
My bulb did burn out but a night light replacement bulb works amazing.
